They Turned the World Upside Down by Charles Martin – Well, my mom has been begging me to start reading Charles Martin for years. After he appeared on That Sounds Fun with Annie F. Downs, I am finally listening. This book is a fantastic look at what it was like to live in the years after Jesus’ ascension as his disciples spread Christianity throughout the world.
Podcasts
Floodlines from The Atlantic – This one is a careful, in-depth look at Hurricane Katrina, southern Louisiana, and what happened in New Orleans after the storm passed. Even though it has been more than a decade since the storm, this feels like you are right there as the host interviews a wide range of people who were in the city and experience Katrina – and what followed – first hand. Heads up – there is some raw language both in the interviews and the recordings from the actual event itself.
Therapy and Theology from Proverbs 31 Ministries – This has been an ongoing series for about a year now. Lysa TerKeurst, Joel Muddamalle, and Jim Cress are back and they are dissecting themes of the hardest types of forgiveness covered in Lysa’s new book, Forgiving What You Can’t Forget. These are excellent episodes. Use the link above and then search their feed/page for the episodes that start with this title.
